Many parents on UrbanSitter are eager to connect with sitters who are background checked. Sitters with background checks get significantly more jobs than those without! Once you've completed and cleared a background check through our background check providers, currently Checkr and EvidentID*, a background check badge will be added to your profile that is visible to parents.
A background check badge is a must-have to ensure trust & credibility as a sitter - and help you stand out among other sitters! Parents can search specifically for sitters with background checks, and filter sitters who have expressed interest in their job post by those with background check badges.

On the search for finding the perfect family? Parents can also purchase upgraded background checks for sitters they're considering hiring, including a Motor Vehicle Record (DMV) check. Let them know they can email our Support team at email@example.com and we'll follow up with them with our options & pricing!
Sitter background checks are processed through our third party background providers, Checkr and EvidentID*. Checkr references the sitter's name against their Social Security Number and is then checked against the National Sex Offender Registry and Multi-State Criminal records. EvidentID references the sitter's name against their Social Security Number and is then checked against the National Sex Offender Registry and County Criminal records. Once the background check is complete and cleared, a background check badge will display on your UrbanSitter profile for three years (36 months).
Please note that it may take 3-5 full business days for the check to be completed and this badge to appear on your profile. UrbanSitter is unable to accept background checks from other sources. Background checks are non-refundable.
Upon completion of your background check, you should receive an email from Checkr regarding the results. If you would like to request a new copy of your results or have any specific questions about your background check, you may contact Checkr Customer Support by calling 844-2-CHECKR or by going to Checkr’s Help Center.
*Background checks processed between 1/31/2012 and 1/31/2013 were processed by TalentWise. Background checks processed between 1/31/2013 and 7/30/2015 were processed by HireRight. Background checks processed after 7/30/2015 were processed by Checkr.
