Please note that as of now, our Teen Sitters program is currently on-hold as we enhance it. We appreciate your interest in UrbanSitter and we look forward to updating participants when they can continue the registration process!
Dear teens and parents, Welcome to UrbanSitter! We're so excited to have you be a part of the UrbanSitter platform. Before you get started as a sitter, we ask that both the teen sitter and their parent/legal guardian review the following information to get a better understanding about how UrbanSitter works, the information we collect from sitters, and who to contact if you have any questions.
How does UrbanSitter work?
UrbanSitter is an app and web-based platform that makes it easier than ever for people seeking family-related services (“parents”) to connect with people who want to provide those services (“sitters”). UrbanSitter taps into a parent’s personal network to connect them with sitters of friends, moms’ groups, and parents from their kid’s school to find a sitter they trust. Sitters create dynamic profiles detailing their personality, hobbies, and previous experience for parents to view. Sitters can express interest in jobs posted by parents and parents can send booking or interview requests to sitters to fulfill their childcare needs. Once booked, sitters receive the parent’s information (such as phone number and booking address), attends the job and provides childcare, and is paid either in-person via cash/check or through the platform via direct deposit. You can learn more here!
How does UrbanSitter think about Trust & Safety?
The safety and security of our members are of our utmost importance. We strive to provide members with as much information as possible so they can make well-informed decisions. Both sitters and parents are encouraged to keep their personal contact information, such as email address and phone number, private from other members prior to officially booking on the platform. You can learn more about Trust & Safety on UrbanSitter here.
How can I access my teen’s account, and deactivate it if needed?
While setting up your teen’s account, we recommend using an email address and password combination that you both have knowledge of and access to so you can access and review your teen’s account and activity at any time. It is your responsibility as the teen’s parent to monitor your teen’s account and activity, as all notifications will be sent to the email address on file and not to a separate email address. As long as your teen is a minor, you may obtain information about your teen’s account and account activity by emailing us as well as deactivate your teen’s account at any time. Accounts may be deactivated on the web from your teen's Account Settings page, or by a request to our Member Services team via email. Full instructions can be found here. When your teen turns 18, you will no longer have the right to access or deactivate your teen’s account.
Who can I contact if I have any questions or concerns?
Now that you've read our FAQ, make sure that the teen's parent signs and submits the Consent Form that was emailed to the teen, and look out for any emails coming your way from our Member Services team. We’re thrilled at the opportunity to have you as part of our UrbanSitter community, and we look forward to your future success on the platform!
