Reviews are one of the most effective ways to demonstrate your credibility and experience to families searching for trusted care providers. As you're getting started on UrbanSitter, you can build up your profile with recommendations from families and employers you have previously worked for (learn more here).
After completing a booking on UrbanSitter with a new family, the family is prompted to submit a public or private review of their experience. If the booking was not scheduled through UrbanSitter, or the booking is expired, declined, or hasn't been completed yet, the family will not be able to submit a review. Reviews comprise of a 1 through 5-star rating and an optional comment. Public reviews are visible on sitter profiles to all UrbanSitter members, and private reviews are only visible to Support. You will be notified when you receive a new public review!
While reviews are not required and are up to the family's discretion, they are highly encouraged. If a new family hasn't reviewed you yet, we recommend sitters follow up and ask with a polite and professional message to the family. It's okay to remind them that sitter reviews help build up your profile and get jobs!
To uphold the integrity and trust of our community, sitters can publicly respond to reviews on their profile (via the site only, not the app) and may contest those they deem to violate our guidelines. To contest a review, please email Member Services. UrbanSitter does not censor or hide negative reviews that may be detrimental to a sitter's reputation but does remove reviews that violate our guidelines. All reviews should adhere to our Review Guidelines and report accurate, unbiased experiences. When writing a review, families must be:
- Genuine: base the review off of firsthand experience and not hearsay. Criticism should be constructive and not spiteful.
- Factual: explain what happened and do not use exaggerations, generalizations, or assumptions.
- Thoughtful: provide useful information about the sitter's behavior, demeanor, and performance so fellow families can make fair, educated decisions.
