Sitters get paid for bookings on UrbanSitter via cash or credit (direct deposit). In order to get paid for care jobs via direct deposit, sitters need to confirm their hours worked in order to accurately bill the parent. The parent then confirms the hours and is charged for the payment, then the sitter is paid out via their preferred payout method of direct deposit!
When sitters confirm hours, they have the opportunity to confirm the hours they worked to initiate a credit payment, confirm a cash payment if applicable, and also cancel the payment if the booking was canceled.
A few important tips to remember when confirming your hours:
- If you were paid in cash, make sure to confirm a cash payment and do not confirm hours so the parent is not double-charged. Read more here!
- If the booking was canceled by either member, do not confirm your hours
- Confirm your start and end time accurately and don't over-confirm
- Have your preferred payout method selected before confirming hours
If your job booking is set to a credit card payment method, you will be prompted to confirm the actual hours worked (start and end time) via email and a notification on the app and website sent at the end time of the booking. You can also confirm hours from the booking page. Make sure to select Yes, expecting bank deposit and confirm your hours accurately - over-confirming your hours may lead to over-charging the parent and action taken on your account.
Once the sitter confirms, the parent will also be prompted to confirm the hours worked and add an optional tip. Once both members have confirmed, a direct deposit will be initiated into the sitter's account. Note: interview bookings do not require you to confirm hours - if you were paid in cash or didn't complete the interview, email Member Services as soon as possible.
Credit bookings are paid out using the payout method selected on your Payment & Payout page (Payout Method screen on the app). You can choose how to receive credit payments: Instant Payout (under 2 minutes) or Standard Payout (3-5 business days). Make sure to have your preferred payout method selected before confirming hours to avoid delay in your payment!
What if my job was canceled or I was paid in cash instead?
When prompted to confirm your hours, you'll have the opportunity to cancel the credit payment if need be. If you receive payment for a credit booking via cash/check/payment transfer app instead, select No, I was paid cash when you are prompted to confirm your hours. This will mark the booking as Completed and switch the payment method of the booking to cash so the parent isn't charged.
If you or the family canceled the job but not officially on UrbanSitter, you will still be prompted to confirm your hours so make sure to select No, I canceled this job or No, parent canceled.
If your job or paid interview booking is set to a cash payment method, the parent is expected to pay you via cash/check/payment transfer app and you will not be prompted to confirm your hours worked. If you complete a cash booking but you are expecting a credit payment (or the parent wishes to switch to credit), you'll need to email Member Services so we can update the payment method on your behalf.
