Annual membership and background check

To be an approved caregiver on UrbanSitter, caregivers must have a complete profile, active membership, and cleared background check. These requirements allow caregivers unlimited access to our job and payment tools, as well as assistance from our Member Services team with booking, payment, or trust and safety issues.

Annual membership

The annual membership allows unlimited access to booking, messaging, and payment tools so you can find, schedule, and get paid for care jobs. Membership comes at an annual fee and includes the required background check. Membership is good for one year and renews at the end of your billing cycle. Each year of membership you will need to clear a new background check or else your profile will be hidden. 

To purchase your membership,

1. Click Purchase membership from your approval checklist or go here
2. Enter your credit card information
3. Click Purchase

The annual membership fee is non-refundable. To check the status of your membership plan and your next billing date, go to your Settings page then the Membership plan section of Account Basics. 30 days before this date, you'll receive a notification about your upcoming membership renewal.

You can cancel your membership so it doesn't renew on your Settings page anytime before the end of your billing cycle. Your membership will remain active until then and won’t automatically renew.

Background check

After you purchase your membership, follow the steps to submit your background check information to our background check provider, Checkr. The background check includes: 

• County Criminal Search (Current)*
• National Criminal Search (Standard)
• Sex Offender Search
• SSN Trace
• Global Watchlist Search

*County of residence, self-reported by caregiver

Background checks are typically processed within 3-7 business days. Once cleared, a background check badge will be added to your profile for one year from your membership purchase date. For specifics about how Checkr processes background checks, review their help articles here.

If you haven't submitted your background check within 30 days of purchasing your membership, the link will expire. Email us to get a new link.
